Just loose the upper screw from the rotor, move it to a more close or open descenter position, then thight it till the screw get finishes it`s way and give a little touch (please don´t over force it)

The motors have a lifetime of 3000 hours, the durabilty will depend on how much you use the machine.
Mostly I recomend Clockwise, but using it counter clockwise wont affect the durability. I will difer that counter clockwise is a little softer so it depends on the Tattoo Artist preference.
